The Onesies are a lo-fi
rock band from Charlotte, NC.
They meld garage riffage with Byrdsian 12-string jangle and harmonies, while taking cues regarding rock
abstractification from "Teenager of The Year"-era Frank Black and - having seeded these substrata with
post-glam touches pilfered from Spacehog (not the hippest touchstones of 90's revivalism, we admit, but,
after all, we are what we consume) - package the results in songs under a minute in length (ideally,
if not consistently).
Led by songwriter Rob Katz, The Onesies name has been used by a string of failed projects reaching
all the way back to 2009 where they first came into being in the dry, sunny hills of San Diego. It wasn't until 2021,
however, that the band saw their first official release. Largely a studio entity in their current incarnation,
don't look for them to be playing out anytime soon, but do keep eyes peeled around town for Rob's solo project
King Shrimp, in addition to what we hope will be a steady stream of releases from The Onesies proper.
Since 2001, Corpus Frisky has amassed several vaults worth of experiments applying found sound,
burbling synths, hyper-melodicism, spacious drones and jagged noise to post-traditional song-writing.
In addition to managing the record label that bears their name, Corpus Frisky maintains this hand-crafted
website, designing and coding all the procedural graphics, and is currently prototyping a line of
low-cost hand-built synth elements of incredibly poor (but slowly improving) quality.
King Shrimp is the solo project of Onesies songwriter Rob Katz.
